The Chicago Bears returned to the practice field on Wednesday, after enjoying their bye week. Despite a 4-2 record, they are currently in last place in the NFC North division. The good news, however, is they are currently the 7th seed in the NFC.

The Detroit Lions are currently in first with a 5-1 record. Minnesota also has a 5-1 record but their loss puts them in second. Green Bay is the only team in the division that hasn't had their bye week, is 1/2 game behind the NFCN leaders at 5-2. Green Bay's bye week is week 10.

The game in Washington Sunday (3:25 PM on CBS) marks a homecoming for Bears rookie phenom, Caleb Williams. He was born in Washington DC. He set records as the QB at Gonzaga College High School.

Washington QB Jayden Daniels suffered an injury to his ribs in the first quarter of the Commanders game last week. After a trip to the blue tent for treatment, he tried to throw on the sidelines, but he wasn't able to return to the game.

The Commanders are hopeful he will be able to play this week, but he did not participate in Wednesday's practice. If Daniels is unable to start, Marcus Mariota will start for the Commanders.

News and Notes

Daniels' injury has affected the betting line for this game. The Bears are currently a 2 1/2 road favorite. The over sits at 43.

This will be the 47th regular season meeting. Washington leads the series 23-22-1.

Prior to the Super Bowl era, the teams played four times in the NFL Championship. Each team won twice.
